The beard has enjoyed varying degrees of success throughout its long and storied history. Perhaps no time period was more friendly to the facial folical than the Civil War era. Due to this irrefutable fact my beardspiration could come from only one, truely inspirational, individual. My fellow beard growers I give you the man who single handedly the for whom the sideburn is named: Union Army General, Ambrose Everett Burnsides.

That's some epic beardage. Those chops are the stuff legends are made of. You certainly have your work cut out for you with a beard-speration like Gen. Sideburns.
